Care for Evaporative Pads and When To ReplaceSeveral factors are associated with pad maintenance. The first and most important factor is that effects pad life is how you maintain the pads. The pads are made of paper. If you dry the pads after each use, the pads will not grow mold or mildew and last much longer. To dry the pads after each use, turn the pump off to the unit and allow the fan to pull air through the moist pads until dry.Another factor of pad life is water quality. If you have hard water, the pads may develop a buildup of minerals that can be 1) rinsed off with light pressure water and gentle scrubbing or 2) a product used to keep the minerals in solution, like Port-A-Cool's MK-47 Mineral Knockout. This will help prevent minerals from developing on the face of the pad. Overall cleanliness of the environment can effect the pad life as well. If you notice materials such as straw, hair, or dirt collecting on the pads, you may use water to rinse these and extend the pad life. Basic maintenence of the evaporative pads will allow you to use a set of pads up to 3 years. If you need to replace you media please visit www.port-a-coolparts.com Related FAQs Listing : |
